One of the first things you learn when living in a small space is that a little clutter can take up a lot of room. Keeping your tiny home’s kitchen neat and organized is an essential element of living the tiny life.
One of the best ways to make tiny home kitchen organization second nature is to pick up a set of high-quality stackable kitchen bins. These ingenious containers allow you to more efficiently store everything from bulk foods like cereal and flour to boxes, bags, and pouches of food in a neater and easier-to-access way.
Today we’re going to dig deep into the kitchen organization market to find five of the best stackable kitchen bins available.
There’s an incredible number of kitchen bins, storage containers, jars, and boxes. Our testing zeroed in on the best options in a few key categories to help you narrow your search for the best stackable kitchen bins for tiny homes and other small kitchens.
1. Rubbermaid Brilliance Food Storage Containers – Overall Best Stackable Kitchen Bins for Tiny Homes – Link
![](https://tinylivinglife.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/word-image-9946-1.jpeg)
The Rubbermaid Brilliance Food Storage containers are sleek and stylish stackable containers from one of the best-regarded names in the home storage industry. They come in a massive range of sizes and offer one of the best kitchen food storage and organization solutions.
The Rubbermaid Brilliance containers offer a durable and space-efficient storage option for modern kitchens. They’re fully transparent from every angle, including the lid, and use a dual-clasp sealing system that’s both easy to use and provides a reliable airtight seal.
The Brilliance Containers come in a vast selection of sizes, starting with small spice containers and going up to large-capacity cereal containers. Having many choices makes it easier to find the mix needed for your pantry.
Most but not all of the Rubbermaid containers will stack with one another. The smallest and most unusually sized such as spaghetti containers generally won’t stack effectively with large-capacity containers for bulk goods such as sugar, flour, or cereal.
We were concerned that lack of inter-stackability would be an issue but in practice, it wasn’t at all. It made sense to separate larger containers from smaller ones, and the spaghetti container was so tall it didn’t work to stack it with containers other than the very smallest.

The Brilliance containers are made from BPA-free transparent plastic that’s freezer- and dishwasher-safe. In our testing, they also scored high marks for durability in our drop and impact tests. We dropped several sizes from counter height with no damage whatsoever.
Rubbermaid Brilliance Food Storage Containers combine exceptional functionality, sleek style, and excellent durability. They’re the overall best option for tiny home dwellers seeking stackable food storage containers.
Pros
- Crystal-clear transparent plastic from all sides, including the lid, make it easy to find just what you need even in a crowded panty
- Made from durable BPA-free plastic that’s both freezer- and dishwasher-safe
- Lids quickly and easily give an airtight seal to protect the freshness of your food
- Containers rounded rectangular design allows you to store them very closely with one another, minimizing lost space
- Wide opening perfect for scooping or pouring
Cons
- Largest containers won’t stack with smaller ones
2. ClearSpace Stackable Plastic Storage Bins with Lids: Best Stackable Kitchen Organization Bins for Tiny Homes – Link
![](https://tinylivinglife.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/word-image-9946-3.jpeg)
Most pantries contain more than just bulk foods, cereal, and the like. The ClearSpace Stackable Plastic Storage Bins offer an easy way to organize packaged foods like granola bars, noodles, instant rice, and similar small yet irregularly shaped foods in your pantry.
The ClearSpace Bins look a lot like the slide-out bins you’d find in your refrigerator and can are actually usable in either your pantry or your fridge. They’re made from clear plastic with recessed lids and designed to stack up to three high depending on your shelf space.
Each bin is 12.5 inches deep by 6 inches wide by 7 inches tall. That gives you enough space to keep several small boxes or bags such as snack-sized chips or macaroni. The recessed lid gives them an excellent resting point when stacking and gives you more confidence when putting multiple bins on top of one another.
![](https://tinylivinglife.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/word-image-9946-4.jpeg)
The lid isn’t airtight, but given that their design purpose was to help organize boxes, bags, or things like onions and potatoes, that isn’t a requirement. The ClearSpace Bins come in sets of four or eight and are reasonably priced for their size and durability.
For the intended role of adding extra order to a cluttered kitchen, the ClearSpace Stackable Plastic Storage Bins do an exemplary job.
Pros
- Clear design makes it easy to see what’s stored in each bin
- Recessed lid makes stacking easier and more secure
- Shape and size allows you to use available pantry space as efficiently as possible
Cons
3. OXO Good Grips POP Containers – Best Airtight Stackable Kitchen Bins for Tiny Homes – Link
![](https://tinylivinglife.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/word-image-9946-5.jpeg)
OXO has a long history of making some of the coolest kitchen gadgets out there, and the new OXO Good Grips POP Containers are no exception. The POP Containers use a pop-up button integrated into its lid system, letting you instantly create an actual airtight seal with the container.
Many stackable kitchen bins claim to be airtight, but with the POP, you can verify whether or not a seal has formed based on the button’s position. If the button doesn’t stay down you know that your food is contacting the air, and it might be time to clean the lids thoroughly.
The OXO containers themselves are slim, durable, and designed to offer long-lasting food storage options in a stylish package. They fit together well in a cabinet or pantry and minimize the amount of wasted space.
OXO offers POP Containers in various sizes and shapes, ranging from 0.2-quart spice containers up to 6-quart bulk food containers capable of holding a ton of food securely.
![](https://tinylivinglife.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/word-image-9946-6.jpeg)
One exciting feature of the POP Containers was the ability to attach OXO accessories to the lid. They offer coffee scoops, levelers, date dials, and many more options to optimize your food storage.
If keeping your food at optimal freshness is a priority, the OXO Good Grips POP Containers are the best stackable kitchen bins out there.
Pros
- Offer the strongest seal of any bins we tested
- Pop-up seal allows you to verify at a glance if a container comes open
- Upgraded A-Type lid system allows you to attach OXO brand scoops, levels, and other accessories to the underside of your container lids
- Containers are durable, transparent, and shaped for efficient use of space
Cons
- Lids aren’t transparent
- Lids are thicker than other airtight storage bins, making the container itself taller
- Moving parts in the lid create more chance for failure
- More expensive than other airtight stackable kitchen bins
4. Rubbermaid Commercial Products Space Saving Squares: Most Durable Stackable Kitchen Bins for Tiny Home Pantry Organization – Link
![](https://tinylivinglife.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/word-image-9946-7.jpeg)
One of the worst-kept secrets of good home cooks is that commercial kitchen gear is often the best option for a lot of home kitchen needs. Rubbermaid makes plenty of home-focused kitchen products and storage solutions, but for some, the Rubbermaid Commercial Products Space Saving Squares could be the best way to organize your pantry, cabinets, or refrigerators.
The Space Saving Squares are familiar to anyone who worked in commercial kitchens, as they’re used to store virtually everything cooked in one. They’re square plastic bins capable of holding just about anything and available in various sizes.
Where many other stackable kitchen bins go with different shapes to accommodate different capacities, Rubbermaid used the same width and depth for each bin so that you can stack any capacity Space Saving Square with any other.
The Squares start at two quarts and go as high as massive 22-quart containers. For a tiny home kitchen, we recommend the four- to six-quart models. They offer the best mix of storage capacity and versatility.
The Rubbermaid went with thick, impact-resistant plastic for the Space Savings Squares designed to last years in a professional setting. For home use, you can realistically expect them to outlast your kitchen itself.
![](https://tinylivinglife.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/word-image-9946-8.jpeg)
It’s not all good news, unfortunately. The Squares are individually more expensive than other options and you have to purchase lids for them separately. They’re also, to put it gently, kind of ugly. They look like something you’d expect to find sitting in a commercial kitchen, so not everyone’s cup of tea.
If you’re looking for the strongest, most durable, and most versatile stackable kitchen bins for your tiny home and aren’t put off by their industrial look or pricing, the Rubbermaid Space Savings Squares are the way to go.
Pros
- Extremely durable professional-grade stackable kitchen bins
- Available in a range of sizes for storing bulk goods, packaged boxes, and everything in between
- All sizes stack with all other sizes
- Can be used for sous vide
Cons
- Lids sold separately
- More expensive than similarly sized kitchen organizers
- Look very commercial
- Not airtight
5. Vtopmart Stackable Airtight Food Storage Containers: Best-Value Stackable Kitchen Bins for Tiny Homes – Link
![](https://tinylivinglife.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/word-image-9946-9.jpeg)
Vtopmart Stackable Airtight Food Storage Containers offer a value-priced way to quickly and effectively organize your tiny house kitchen. Available in a set of seven containers, they give you airtight storage space that fills the needs of many kitchens.
They’re made from transparent plastic with flip seal lids and come with four different sizes to meet a range of needs. You can choose from white, gray, or black lids to better match your kitchen decor.
The lids use a flip mechanism to ensure an airtight seal. We tried it and were reasonably impressed at how well it worked, particularly given Vtopmart’s low price point.
It wasn’t a match for the active seal of the OXO POP Containers, but then again it cost substantially less per container.
![](https://tinylivinglife.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/word-image-9946-10.jpeg)
One thing to remember is that the containers aren’t as durable as many others we reviewed. The plastic was thinner, and they’re definitely not dishwasher safe.
If you’re looking for a good set of airtight, stackable containers for your tiny home kitchen that won’t break the bank, the Vtopmart Stackable Airtight Food Containers offer a lot of bang for your buck.
Pros
- Very affordably priced
- Come in a wide range of sizes
- Set of seven meets the needs of most kitchens
Cons
- Not as durable as other options on our list
- Not dishwasher safe
Buying Guide
Choosing the best stackable kitchen bins for your tiny home comes down to a few key factors. You want containers that are durable, don’t take up too much extra space in your cabinet, and that actually do what you need them to.
Storable Shapes
Stackable kitchen bins come in all kinds of shapes, sizes, and configurations. You can get cube-like ones, rectangular ones, cylinders, and everything in between.
Our reviews focused on containers that offered the best mix of usable storage space without taking up too much of your shelves. Square and rectangular containers fit together better and with less wasted space than round ones. Tiny homes don’t offer much storage space compared to traditional homes. Having kitchen storage bins that use available space efficiently is critical.
We also considered how easy it was to use the containers themselves. Every storage container we recommend allows you to use standard kitchen measuring cups without making a mess.
Lid Seal Strength
Not all the bins we reviewed came with sealable lids, but for those that did we consider the quality of the seal of high importance. We only considered containers that offered an airtight seal that could withstand frequent sealing and unsealing.
Airtight seals help prevent dry goods like flour, legumes, grains, and cereal from going stale. They’re also essential protection against pests. The last thing you want in your tiny home is an infestation of pantry moths.
There have been reports of pantry moths, weevils, and other pests tagging along in bags of flour, rice, and beans. Investing in a set of stackable airtight kitchen containers will prevent any stowaways from spreading and multiplying out of control.
For stackable bins used to organize boxes and other already sealed food products having an airtight lid isn’t as important.
Stackability
A stackable storage bin isn’t much use if it won’t stack. While testing different bins we looked at how easy it was to stack them (some have a recessed notch that you had to line up just right with the bin below it), how stable they were when stacked, and how well containers of different sizes could stack with one another.
The best stackable kitchen bins could not only stack easily and stably but also allow you to remove a specific bin from a stack without having to remove the rest and unstack a whole column.
Material and Durability
Every stackable storage container we considered is made from transparent plastic with either rubber or silicone lids. Glass containers are also available. Still, they don’t stack as safely as plastic containers due to how easily they shatter if dropped.
We ran all the containers on our list through drop tests from counter height, squeeze tests (within reason), and at least one round through the dishwasher. The ones that made the cut won’t crack, shatter, or warp under regular use.
Range of Sizes
Different kitchens have different storage needs. It’s important that any kitchen storage bins you consider offer a large enough range of sizes and configurations to meet your needs.
Don’t go crazy with it, though. Too many different sizes of storage containers can make your pantry look unorganized and make it harder to find specific things when you need them. A good rule of thumb is to pick out two or three sizes that fulfill the majority of your needs.
Another thing to keep in mind is that containers from different brands don’t stack together. We compared multiple brands and didn’t find a single one that stacked well with each other.
Make sure the container brand you go with has a range of sizes that will fit your needs. If you don’t, you might end up having to replace all of them prematurely as your kitchen storage needs evolve.
Ease of Upkeep
One of the last things you want in a food storage bin is difficulty cleaning it. We’ve all had experiences with flour, sugar, and other bits of food getting stuck in corners and cracks, you definitely don’t want that in the storage bins you keep food for your family in.
Thankfully, most dry goods containers and stackable kitchen organizers don’t need to be cleaned very often. Ideally, both the container itself and the lid are machine washable, though we considered several models that were hand wash only.
One of the first things you learn when living in a small space is that a little clutter can take up a lot of room. Keeping your tiny home’s kitchen neat and organized is an essential element of living the tiny life.
